Gujarati Dal Dhokli Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup split pigeon peas Boiled
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Cup Wheat flour
  • 1 Tomato Small Finely chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Jaggery
  • 1 Tsp Cooking oil
  • 1 tsp Carom seeds
  • 1 Tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 Dry Red Chili
  • 1/2 Tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 2-3 Green chili Sliced
  • 1 Tbsp Peanuts
  • 1 Tbsp Coriander Finely Chopped
  • 7-8 Garcinia Indica Kokum
  • 1/4 Tsp Asafoetida
  • 1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Tbsp Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl add flour, turmeric powder, and red chili powder, ajwain crushed in palm, salt to taste, 1 tsp oil, and mix all ingredients.
  • Now add water accordingly and knead soft dough.
  • Add oil again and knead it again. Cover it with a plate and set it aside for 10 minutes.
  • Heat a thick bottomed steel vessel, and pour oil, mustard seed now add fenugreek seeds, asafetida, chopped green chili, peanuts, and roast the content for a minute.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes, powder, now add boiled dal and mix well on full flame.
  • Now add warm water mix and next add kokum, 1 tsp salt, now add jaggery and cook until it comes to a boil.
  • Let move on to next part. Take a ball of dough, dust in flour and with the help of rolling pin, flatten it out make it thinner. Prepare more roti similarly.
  • Now with help of a cutter, cut the raw rotis into diamond shapes.
  • Next, on full flame, add the diamond shape roti pieces into a boiling dal.
  • Let it cook and stir occasionally for 15 minutes.
  • Piping hot Dal dhokla is ready to be served.
